Under Events, New Proposed Developments

Over 150 people braved the winter weather to attend this event held at Walton Memorial Church in Bronte Wednesday evening, February 20, 2019.

Sean O’Meara started out by giving an overview of the planning process in Oakville and all the levels of government involved in shaping our Bronte community. Sean has a great ability to simplify a very complex planning process involving three levels of government: the Province of Ontario’s Policy Statement, The Greater Golden Horseshoe Growth Plan, the Halton Region Official Plan and Oakville’s Official Plan. All of these plans must conform upwards to the Province and key to this is accommodating the growth pushed down from the Province.

One jaw dropper that took a number of attendees by surprise is the Government of Ontario’s review of Municipal and Regional governments currently underway. One possible outcome of this review is the forced amalgamation of the Towns of Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Halton Hills into a new “City of Halton.”

There was a tremendous amount of information from Sean on how developments are approved and the changes now in place with the LPAT Appeals Tribunal (former OMB).

I followed Sean with A Snowy Owl’s View of 9 Developments in Bronte, a drone video over the 9 developments in Bronte:

My presentation drilled down on the 9 developments including renderings and details of the size of each development, who the developers are, timing, prices, etc. The presentations were followed by a Q & A session. Refreshments followed in Bronte Hall

 Thanks to everyone who attended!

We welcome your feedback!
